Peter Madcat Ruth is one of the best harmonica players on earth, a mainstay of Ann Arbor’s blues scene since the 1970s and a carrier of tradition who learned his art directly from Chicago’s masters of the blues harmonica. He’s performed in many countries, won a Grammy award, and remains a major force in blues harmonica nationally. Madcat has released many albums, both solo and with his Madcat Midnight Blues Journey band. His “More Real Folk Blues” album features harmonicas, ukulele, jaw harps, baritone guitar, banjo, banjo ukulele, high hat, cowbell, wood block, shakers, guiro, tambourine, and brushes on a pizza box, and, of course, vocals, and in concert he often appears with younger players in shows where almost anything might happen. Don’t miss this chance to see a Michigan legend. Tonight Madcat appears with his C.A.R.Ma. Quartet, featuring drummer/tabla player John Churchville, bassist Brennan Andes, and guitarist/vocalist Dan Ripke.
